TELL ME ABOUT IT

Has there ever been a time when someone has taken a characteristic unique to you and instantly applied it to your entire race or ethnic group? Or a time when someone insists that since other people of your race or ethnic group  like or dislike something then you do too? 

I'm collecting stories that may be included in a book I'm writing & I'd love to hear from you. If you'd like to contribute your story, please email me.

When you email your story, please include:
 The first names of the person or persons involved (I'll change them)
 Where you were when the conversation took place
 How you got on the subject
 How you felt. For example, were you angry? Amused? Saddened?
    Shocked?     

I'm looking for Snap Judgments such as:
"…so you never wear anything purple? Oh, I see, so then, Asians don't wear purple."
And assumptions such as:
"…what are you talking about? Black people don't swim."
